Spending year in a high stress career on the road moving between cities, finding a bit of peace for myself was a challenge at best. From being away from most everyone I knew to being with people around the clock. How do you find time for just you? It could be a simple as making time to have a coffee or adding to your space something that makes you happy.
This is a different challenge for everyone. Working from home now on your on, with little contact from others? Or working from home with children always around? Make time to reach out to a friend just to hear their voice, or take a couple of minutes after they have “finally” gone to sleep, and allow yourself not to think about what needs to be done but enjoy the quiet.
It does not have to be a perfect solution, but let’s start somewhere. We all need moments of peace, even if they are short lived and sporadic.
Maybe is not taking time away but adding something to your space. My mother told me, how in college she hung a patterned scarf dorm wall because she needed something “to look at” besides the bare cement blocks.
And that is the essence of what this is about. Find small ways to make life better. Every day to take time to focus on what is good in our lives. We deserve a break from all that is bad. And in fact need, those breaks to refill our energy to face and overcome the obstacles in life.
